eConsult Frequently Asked Questions


We have recently made some changes to the way patients can contact us at Woodlands Surgery.


What is eConsult? eConsult is a platform that allows you to seek self-help information from the NHS, through your GP Practice or surgery website. Services include self-help information, advice or help from local services which may be appropriate for your condition, such as self-referral services or help from your local pharmacy. eConsult also allows you to seek advice online from your own GP for your condition or if you need general or administrative advice.


What are the eConsult operating times? 

Monday - 08:00 til 20:00 

Tuesday - 08:00 til 20:00 

Wednesday - 08:00 til 20:00 

Thursday - 08:00 til 20:00 

Friday - 08:00 til 20:00 


How do I access eConsult? It’s quite simple! Visit the practice website and click on the eConsult banner that says “Contact your doctors online”.

When will I get a response back? The Clinician / Practice staff will review your response and get back to you by 18:30 the next working day. We will contact you by phone, by email or by text.

What if I don’t have internet access? Patients that do not have access to the internet can still contact the surgery via the practice contact telephone number.

What about my Child? Parents / Guardians can complete an eConsult on behalf of their children aged 6months and above. Parents / Guardians will receive a call back or an appointment to close off the eConsult.

I completed an eConsult and I was advised to contact the practice for an urgent appointment? This happens when a patient reports symptoms that suggest they are too unwell for the eConsult system.
